Overview

Pick up at 8:00 at your meeting point in Barcelona. Your mountain guide will take you to Montserrat. Enjoy the ride throughout the mountainous countryside. Once at Montserrat, visit Santa Maria de Montserrat, the mountain’s Benedictine monastery. Admire the ‘Black Madonna’, a carving from the 12th-century.

Departing from the monastery, ride the St Joan funicular railway, ascending to the middle part of Montserrat Mountain range. At this point, the hike begins. We’ll climb an iconic peak of the massif of Montserrat: the Albarda Castellana (1.177 m). You will stop for a break in a unique and picturesque place with what had been an authentic shrine of hermits. Here, you will enjoy the local products lunch (picnic) in the company of wonderful views. After lunch, we’ll continue hiking and exploring a very quiet and little-known area of Montserrat. On your way down, heading back to the monastery you will discover other authentic shrines where the earliest inhabitants of Montserrat took refuge for over 1,000 years.
